Saturno Santos’ Something is a multicultural large ensemble led by improviser-songwriter Gabriel de Oliveira, drawing together radiant young voices versed in languages of jazz and folk traditions - Brazilian, South-African, Italian, and beyond. Born in 2023 within the independent label KB_ as a lab for imaginative Global(-South) pop, the group's members rotate into various settings with a collective punk ethos.
Over the last year, SSS has carved a particular space and following, playing esteemed festivals and venues including NSRT, Space is the Place, WORM and Cinetol, as well as DIY basements, squats, and stages of all kinds. They are often in close collaboration with rising improvisers from the Dutch creative music scene, such as Chaerin Im, Nicolò Ricci and Diana Dzhabbar. Following a small Belgian residency and tour, they will hit the studio to create their first EP along with producer Alessandro Mazzieri.
With genuine magical thinking and the intent of exploring the in-betweens of songwriting and improvisation, they cast explosive grooves and subtle melodies into a bright-colored ritual.Their vision is to promote new creative languages, capable of bringing communities and generations together.
