Franges is a hybrid quintet, blending the acoustics of wind instruments with electronic and electroacoustic sounds, as well as synthesizers. Designed to evoke dreamlike and intimate impressions, the quintet’s music is both meditative and intuitive, narrative and generous. acoustic sounds are sometimes distorted, reproduced, and transformed, expanding perspectives and sonic layers. Their compositions combine and intertwine different writing techniques, layering calm atmospheres with complex tonal colors—messiaen modes, broad bass lines, and talea-inspired patterns—alongside hypnotic rhythms and virtuosic melodies. Through long, sinuous, or lyrical melodies, improvisations become bold, embracing soaring and electrifying flights of sound.
