AIRES ANDINOS IS A PROJECT BORN FROM THE ENCOUNTER OF THE CHARANGO AND THE SAXOPHONE – TWO DISTINCT INSTRUMENTS THAT ENGAGE IN A DIALOGUE BETWEEN TRADITION AND CONTEMPORARY EXPLORATION. IT GIVES EXPRESSION TO THE SOUNDS OF THE BOLIVIAN HIGHLANDS AND BLENDS THEM WITH THE BEST OF BOLIVIAN AND LATIN AMERICAN FOLKLORE. THE DUO, CONSISTING OF LUCIEL IZUMI AND RUDDY BARRANCOS, CREATES SOUNDSCAPES WHERE EMOTIONS TRANSFORM INTO RHYTHM, VOCALS, AND A FEELING OF FLIGHT. AT EACH PERFORMANCE, THEY ARE ACCOMPANIED BY LOCAL GUITARISTS, FOSTERING EXCHANGE AND IMPROVISATION WITH MUSICIANS FROM DIVERSE CULTURES.
Luciel Izumi is a Bolivian musician and composer who
blends the sound of the charango with influences from
Latin American folklore and world music. Her work aims to
revive the roots of the Andes from a contemporary,
sensitive, and free perspective, bringing Bolivian identity
to the international stage. Her performances are
characterized by the warmth and emotional power she
conveys on stage.
Bolivian saxophonist Ruddy Barrancos specializes in
folk and jazz. His sound is characterized by a unique
timbre that combines technique and emotion, lending a
contemporary Bolivian saxophone flavor to the
repertoire. He has performed with various groups on
international stages, showcasing the diversity of the
Bolivian sound through his instrument.
